    Exclamation Bad experience using replicawatchrepair.com

    I want to post my experience trying to use replicawatchrepair.com to repair my two tone GMT rep. I fear I will not get this watch back from this repair service.

    Two months ago I sent my TT GMT in for a general movement service. It had stopped working so I think it just needed a service/repair. Two months ago they acknowledged receiving my watch. About one week after that they called me and left me a message but no information on whay they were trying to reach me. That is the last time I have heard from them.

    I have called them back and left about 6 voice mails, asking why did you call me and what's the problem? Zero response.

    I used their contact us form about 6 times over the past 7 weeks. No response.

    For reasons I don't understand, this replica repair service has essentially cut me off from all communications...and they still have my watch. As far as I tell from their lack of response to my contact attempts, I guess I will never hear from them again and will never see my GMT watch again.

    I wanted to post my experience in the hopes that others will not fall into this black hole called replicawatchrepair.com. Choose another repair service. This is no way to run a watch repair business.

    Sorry mate.. fortunately for you, that's why this watch forum exists. Unfortunately for you (and many others), you used somebody not vetted on this forum (I won't speak to the quality of vetting by other places).

    To be blunt, you'll most likely never see your watch again. I feel badly, but that is how this will play out.

    They have spent a mass of effort on their website. I know that many scam sites do, but the level of detail here is exceptional. I know, because I have built websites myself in my time. As a scam site it is overdone by a looong way and could be convincing with only a fraction of the content. Don't misunderstand me, I'm not saying that it isn't a scam site, just that there seems to be too much effort and far too much detail to be just that.

    The one unnerving thing is this phrase:
    'We do not accept drop offs. Please refer to "How should I ship my watch to you" above for details on how to get your watch to us.'
    There is also this:
    'Update 11/27/2017: We are no longer located in Chicago, IL, our new repair facility is in Hilton Head, SC and our mailing address as of 12/14/2017 is in Port Wentworth, GA.'

    I can't see how long that this site can be viable if they are systematically keeping watches from senders.
    ... and why phone the client that they are going to con?
    I maybe wrong here, but it may be worth more effort to contact them before you give up on your watch completely.
    If you have an address,send them a tracked snail mail. See what that produces.
    Have you transferred funds also? It makes more sense if they are stripping potential clients of funds, rather than trying to sell off loads of broken replicas. I can't see that paying for itself, even as a scam.

    Seems to me this site was started by one of the rep site ex-vendors after he quit working on our members watches. Maybe 4 or 5 years ago. Maybe the watch maker guy named Rex? Anyone else remember?

    After looking at the site it appears it was the guy was mostly on Replicawatch.info and was from Chicago. Rex, I believe was from PA. And, I definitely have used the Chicago guy but have to do some more digging to come up with a name. My guess is that you will get your watch back in time.

    I don't believe Rex was located in Chicago, but Speedy was. That said, I would imagine if he was back in business repairing reps he would come back to this site as his qualification were beyond reproach and the costs of doing business on RG aren't usurious by any measure. @kbh

    Yep, Speedy is the guy I'm thinking of. And he was hardly beyond reproach. He worked on my 7750 Vintage DW Daytona twice and never got it right. Finally sent it to G (George M.) and it's run flawless ever since. He said the other guy (Speedy) butchered it.

    Ouch @kbh . Sorry to hear that. I had Ed/Speedy work on a bunch of stuff for me... guess I was wrong.

    I actually only know one guy who does repairs on reps beyond reproach here in the US, but he doesn't do it for people he doesn't know. Bottomline - I overstated Ed's bona fides.

    Speedy was OK on 3 handed movements. Just keep him away from 7750 movements with Chinese modules attached. And I've still got G's email in case of emergency. Lately I've been changing movements rather than fixing them.

    I’m really surprised to read this because last year I sent in my 7750 to replicawatchrepair and the repair went flawlessly. I’m considering them for any future repairs as well.

    To best of my knowledge, replicawatchrepair is not any of the former watchmakers from here or other rep forums. The person who answers e mails is Amy and the watchmaker goes by “Doc”. I see on their site they are celebrating five years in business

    I sure hope they haven’t gone downhill in the less than the year I had them work on my watch.

    I've used RWR several times over the past couple of years and sometimes their response can be really slow but they always have done good work, cheap. I currently have 3 watches with them that I sent over 6 weeks ago and I have heard nothing from them. They tend to get "prickly" when you email for status and most often, if you do email them, they will simply point you back to their "check status" tab on the website. The status check could use updating such as where a watch is in their repair queue which would reduce the number of emails they receive asking about status. I'm not giving up on them, I just assume they're swamped and with their working days reduced to 4 instead of 5 the turnaround is really slow.

    Ok I’m going to chime in here about these crooks. DO NOT USE THESE GUYS.

    I used there service to get my watch cleaned out and have them look at an issue with it not working continuously etc. I got my watch back and it had the same issue. So I got authorized by Amy to send it back and also she wanted a video, which I made and sent her the link of what the issue was.

    And they have had my watch ever since.. we are talking since November OF LAST YEAR. Do the math.. that’s a long time. The names of these crooks are Amy, Doc and Art. The only time I got through by phone, they told me they had it in their safe with no paperwork so they didn’t know who it belonged to. Then after that I was given a new tracking number for it. I even asked for it back.. no reply.

    Absolutely pissed and wish I could do more if you know what I mean. So that is why I’m sending out this to warn others.

    I have many emails saved of asking/inquiring about the repair. Some with weeks on weeks on end with no reply.

    Oh and these guys are apparently always on vacation.. Buyer BEWARE!
