Well i think you are overestimating the power of a thread on RG certainly it's possible that someone will bid, but I would maintain that, that person was looking anyway and all you did was do a fellow RG member a favor by pointing him in the right direction.

90% of members wouldn't bid on the movement I am sure just for the sake of it

Only people who have a need for one will bid and correct me if I am wrong but I thought the whole idea of a rep community was to give a heads up to fellow members

I could of course be wrong as from a personal point of view I wouldn't want to bid $5 for a movement because I have no use for a vintage watch if I did i would spend the time and find the movement as i suspect most other members who want them do
If you are not buying from us you are paying too much!!! Like for like we are the cheapest on the net

    The point is:

Posting a link to an active thread only hurts the people willing to hunt these threads down on a consistent basis.

If the reason they are being posted is to be helpful then please remember...
It hurts members here as much as it helps others.

If somone cannot find it themselves why alert them as to where it is?

Think about it in the longer term...

Right now the supply/amount of 616/620 movements for sale is the same as it has been for ever, some people sell them for whatever reason occasionally. But now lots of geeks are bidding and pushing prices up a lot more very quickly....which will make people take notice and pretty soon all those who have a 616/620 in that shoebox will be selling them too, all the dealers with them knocking around will be listing them, people will be picking them up at watch fairs/markets etc and selling them.

There are LOADS more of them out there just sitting around, as soon as the market catches up with demand when people with them realise they are sought after the bubble will burst and prices will come down quickly again.

Anyone paying high price in the bubble now will be feeling rather silly in a few months when the bubble has burst.

Regardless...this is a sad day for me when I am being told what I can and cannot post!

IMHO as long as I am not offending anyone or making accusations etc etc...It should be allowed

Any post we put on for sale threads like "beautiful Piece", "wow that wont last long" has the same net effect as posting an active eBay link, it pushes he sale allong commands higher $ values for the sale. We all do it...yes it helps the seller but it hurts the buyer as well... The noobie jumps abaord thinking he will lose his chance to snap it up...I know I was a noobie once!

Well this is Policy therefore we should follow that even though we my not agree with it.

We need to realize this is not a typical Public forum. One has to register/become a member to get beyond the initial homepage the public sees. Once registered, we have in essence agreed to the terms stated and that all posts are subject to review and can be modded and/or deleted at the discretion of said membership.

The moderators have the power and dat's dat.

The moderators have the power and dats dat.
Did the thread violate any of the established forum rules? I still had the thread open on my phone this morning, and I didn't see anything that would have violated any rules.

Posting an eBay link to an auction that you're bidding on in someone else's thread is not grounds for removing the entire thread once people start bidding up your auction. This sort of behavior sets a rather bad precedent, and would be grounds for removal of moderator privileges on other forums...

    the most bad point is:
the highest bidder pay the money not and after the second chance for me(when the second high) and the price is high...
many guys bid...many guy pay later not...
this is in 616 and 240 in last time happened...

    ok

    THE WINNER PAY PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IGOR! We have created a monster!!!!!!

Just checked the bidding again Will just have and watch this bidding with a smile.

I can't imagine that this is really two Geeks who are outbidding each other, as we all know what a realistic price for a 616 is. That would be crazy.

Is it against the rules to post eBay links to open auctions?

I don't see what the fuss is about people.

Serious buyers willing to spend large amounts of money were always going to be resourceful at finding ebay listings.

You think that just by not posting it up on here, people willing to spend 4K or there around on an Angelus is not going to have stumbled on it on ebay? Very unlikely to be honest.

People bidding on them might feel as though it means money to them but seriously, anyone looking for a cortebert or an angelus can just as easily use ebay advanced search as they can.
