    Default The 1016 Explorer

Trying to keep up with my builds - the 1016 Explorer

Here is another build I recently could work on. I'll keep it short this time, have to work on other projects

Watch came to me made of Yuki case set, hands and dial.
Yuki's case isn't bad at all imho. Not that there is a lot of choice for a 1016 build anyway, it's either yuki or vietnam or gen.

The cracked plexiglas was already there, indeed a lucky finding

I kept the case and swiss low beat movement, and installed a Ruby's true gilt dial with closed minute track, a set of Clark hands and voilà.

    More projects soon

Beautiful! I want one. What movement are you using inside? Does the Yuku case accept a gen Rolex movement or do you need to go with a Vietnam case for that?

I didn't really check which movement was inside, it's one of those low beat vintage ETA same size as 2824. There is a bunch of them and they are all very similar. Maybe it was a 2784.

I assume case should fit a gen movement, but I did not have the chance to try it in person and yuki is not listing this case now so I can tell for sure.

Cool. Thank you for the insights. I love your builds. I am starting to plan out some ideas for doing some gen parts franken builds over the next few years and I think I am going to use gen Rolex movements in them, or at least in the core group of the really special ones to me.
