    Smile Gen RICHARD MILLE question

    Hello people

I have a question about Richard Mille.

I had the "pleasure" to hold/put on what I was told was an authentic Richard Mille today. I don't know the model number at all, but the first thing i noticed is that the rotor was insanely loud. The sound of it spinning, would this mean it was a fake? Or does a genuine one does this too?

I'm not a Richard Mille fan at all, but would be interesting to know. The guy who owns it is legit wealthy enough to own more then one, but had me thinking?

    Anybody can chime in?

    THanks

I’d be willing to place a bet and say that it is. I’ve been to the boutique out in Vegas and handle a number of their pieces. Zero rotor noise!

Don't know what I find more surprising that the guy in question would be wearing a replica watch or that there is a Richard Mille store that has watches in stock lol...

But its strange indeed, cheapens the watch if it would have been real in the first place. Which I kind of doubt too, but I tried on a JLC in a boutique before where I could hear the rotor spin too...

    Default Gen RICHARD MILLE question

There isn’t a “stock”. There are pieces on display and “on hand”; its up to the rep if they’d be willing to show those pieces.

I would find it highly strange that a gen RM has a very noisy rotor.

I doubt Rafa Nadal would wear a gen Richard Mille playing tennis at Wimbledon or the French Open or US Open that sounded like a train locomotive.

Below is a news article on the gen RM that Nadal wears when he plays tennis:

The way the gen movement is set in that case, it should not make much noise at all. Most of those RM movements literally float within the case. I've tried on a few of them and all were very quiet. The thickness of the case should be a clear tell as to whether it's real or now. Also the crystals are way off on the reps. Pretty much the entire rep watch is nothing close to the gen.

Friend of mine has a gen RM, it is very quite and rotor does not make any noise.

I would never ask to try someones watch on, but this was just to funky not try on, had a white case and a blue elastic strap with no buckle .... so I tried it on and shook it around to test this elastic strap. Which fit amazing tbh, but when shaking my wrist i noticed the rotor sound. Also the watch was insanely thin

Based on your description of the noisy rotor, sounds (no pun intended) it might be a rep RM.

I would expect that if one is paying high 5 and 6 figure money that there would be no rotor noise.

For $300,000 to upwards of $750,000 for a gen RM the rotor should be silent.

I was going to say rep based of the rotor noise, but then you said the watch was very thin. Most RM reps are actually quite thick. Do you remember any specific features on the watch that might help us figure it out?

Some models have noisy rotors- I forget the model but a mate of mine has one with a small platinum rotor and I guess maybe ceramic bearing and it sounded like someone rustling a bag!!!
I have a gsotm omega speedmaster and that's quite loud- doesn't bother me
