It is next to impossible to rep a six figure watch for a few hundred dollars. They look ok from far but don't expect it to fool anyone that knows RMs.

Also really curious as to what car you drive. I find it funny when people have 25k+ watches and are hopping out of Toyota Camrys. That screams fake before you even get close to the watch

Exactly. If you're not coming out of a ferrari or something similar (aston martin is okay, too) you should not wear a RM and expect people to think it's legit.

I have actually owned a few in the past and ordered an RM 35-02 with the new carbon pattern from KW and it's on its way, hoping to receive it soon.

Carbon pattern is a straight tell that it is a rep though so you may rather want to go with ceramic or SS models.

You may want to look at RM11s and RM55s from KW

Why do you want impress as you call them, 'rich folk'?
How do you think these people will treat you after you have been exposed for trying to deceive them?

The best watch for the man about town is a simple stainless steel Rolex, Breitling, perhaps a Cartier. I actually have a pretty decent car, and my watch is within my reasonable budget if real.

Agree with you guys above. Unless you're jumping out of the Lamborghini, don't be rocking that RM.

    I drive a Nissan $35k car and wear a rep RM001 lol.

They only made 17 gens so good luck with passing that off as gen (how many people actually would know that though?). But as a watch, it's one of the coolest gen tourbillon reps.

Another thread derailed by "lifestyle experts".

Guy's asking which one of the RM reps is the best but instead he gets a lecture about Lamborghinis. Also a minor implication that he must drive a shlt car. Because, as we all know, everybody who's interested in horology must albo be interested in motoring. No exceptions. And even if his back hurts and he's a senior gentleman with a passion for watches he MUST drive a supercar*. Even if he lives in an area where roads are awful or the climate sucks. Words fail me in expressing how monumentally deluded some posters above are.

*an aggressive, brand-new, shiny, colorful, loud and from a known brand, of course. Non-recogniazable cr.p like Noble M600 won't do. For a matter of fact, any car the OP would claim to own wouldn't do as you'd ask him for photos and upon receiving them, you'd say they've been taken in a showroom. Or at a valet parking. Or something like this.

I think some proud lessees of a Cayenne or 7-series should take a trip to, say, Singapore and start calling out watches there, of course by applying their simple rule - you don't have a car or have a cheap one, you ain't wearing a gen! I would literally pay to see that...

Nothing to do with horology. Everything to do with exposure.

I lost you at minor implication? No, that’s you who lost something, to be precise an English dictionary if what you’re refering to is the supposed incorrectness of this phrase. Implication is a noun of imply and one of the posters implied, indirectly, that he must drive an inadequate car.

Nothing to do with horology? The guy is on a replica forum, he’s looking for a replica watch, what he receives instead is some typical, half-assed lecture about lifestyle.

Perhaps let the OP speak for his intentions. In this case, his remark might have been too direct, but there have been countless threads on rep forums which ended exactly like this without the slighest hint of the wish to fool others from the side of OPs...
And even if he’d wish to do so, everyone’s financial situation is of his own concern and should not be discussed, scoffed or admired alike, by a bunch of random people with no understanding of how the world works outside of their country.

Yesss, have the last word, you won. Put some more emojis for additional wow effect. Don’t forget to mention what kind of watches you can pull off with your X5M, M760iL or a Ferrari 488. I should’ve known that it’s a delicate subject, where are my manners, right?

This is in regards to an RM specifically. YES you must absolutely drive a VERY expensive car if you're going to be wearing an RM and trying to pass it off as real. That is just what the watch is, A ridiculous, over the top, VERY expensive watch. Find me one person that owns a genuine RM and doesn't own a ridiculously expensive car, let alone a fleet of them.

Yes, obviously I know 100 people that own gen Rolexs and drive basic model cars and it is absolutely normal. These watches can be hand downs or milestone achievement rewards. NOT nd RM. Its worth would be life changing for most people and the ability to spend that type of money on a watch commands the ability to spend it elsewhere. If you care about spending 200k+ on something as materialistic as a watch, you will do the same for your vehicle. Again, this was meant specifically for RMs

Since you know my opinion, let's start with what i can agree with you on. That would be the demographics of Richard Mille owners - they are far more likely to be status-conscious than for example Patek or VC owners. Is it a good thing? I'd say no. Is it a sure thing? Definitely no, those are just suppositions. I know only one Richard Mille owner and she's a Norwegian lady who got one as a gift from her partner, i don't know what watch did he wear himself but i know he drove an Audi A8 D3 at the point i was introduced to him (which wasn't exactly worth a fortune at the moment since it was few years old and they lose value so quickly). I forgot the model name of her RM but i remember that i found one like hers on eBay or chrono24 and it was worth $65.000 - expensive, but not unrealistically expensive. You don't need a Bugatti to pull that off.

Matter of fact, you don't need any car to pull off any watch. I've repeated this a billion times on this forum and i will do so again. IF you're known as being wealthy you can pull off pretty much any possession IN the eyes of the people that KNOW you are wealthy. Surname is the ultimate status symbol, trust me. If you own a $100M business you can wear whatever the fuk you feel like and no one in their right mind would have a problem with that. When you're rich, you don't have to care about the opinion of some forklift operator or burger shop worker who thinks your car is not good enough compared to your watch. You want a watch? You buy a watch. You want a car, you buy a car. You're an anti-car green energy activist who happens to also be a billionaire? You don't have a car at all (you do have a jet which burns more fuel than a thousand Ferraris, but shhh...) but you still can wear a Richard Mille if that's your thing.

If you're talking about the opinion of an average schmuck on the street (who, miraculously, knows what RM is and how much does it cost) then sorry but it's a logical dead end. You have no control over what some random schmuck produces in his head. I've witnessed a German centimillionaire getting called out on a gen gold Rolex GMT by some young North African-looking guy standing next to him in a queue, and no, he didn't own a Camry, he owned a Maybach 57. Which apparently didn't look expensive or prestigeous enough for the amateur "watch expert" that he encountered that afternoon.
You can increase your chance of passing it off as gen by driving a Ferrari but FFS, as soon as you exit your Ferrari and walk away from it further than ten yards, no one will have a clue that you own a Ferrari. To some random dudes you're just another dude with a shiny watch and if they'd ask you how much is it worth and you'd say the gen, 250k price they'd assume you're either joking or need head testing. What are you going to say? "I also own a Ferrari, pal?" Or you're going to be one of these guys who wear Ferrari hats? Heaven forbid.

Find me one person that owns a genuine RM and doesn't own a ridiculously expensive car, let alone a fleet of them
Sure thing pal, lemme just access the Richard Mille Owners Registry and i'll give you all the information you need. How am i supposed to do so, even though it's absolutely obvious that such people exist?

USA isn't the whole world, buddy. In many parts of the world, particularly in giant cities, owning a car is pointless. Public transport does the job and literally everyone uses it, from janitors to billionaire investors. Not every city is LA or Moscow, where you absolutely must own an extension of your manhood, even if you're paying for it in a form of being known as the world's most and, accordingly, second most congested city.

If you care about spending 200k+ on something as materialistic as a watch, you will do the same for your vehicle
That's a pretty big claim, i absolutely don't agree but i understand where you're coming from.

For random dudes you're just another dude with a shiny watch and if they'd ask you how much is it worth and you'd say the gen, 250k price they'd assume you're either joking or need head testing. What are you going to say? "I also own a Ferrari, pal?" Or you're going to be one of these guys who wear Ferrari hats? Heaven forbid.

That's a pretty big claim, i absolutely don't agree but i understand where you're coming from.
I live in New York City. It is the epitome of what you speak of. More billionaires here than anywhere else in the entire world. And if you live in Manhattan you don't need a car.... at all. That said, EVERY RM (they could have even been reps) I've ever seen has been accompanied by a ridiculous car(Which is why I never would have questioned them). A Maybach included. I remember seeing one in a night club and speaking to the owner. Mind you, I didnt see what he drove but I came to find out his father was some oil tycoon in Dubai and literally had a fleet of exotic Porsches that they raced weekly there. RMs are a statement watch. And before you get your panties in a bunch again reread the OPs post. He is saying he needs the RM to be represented as believable and I think he's been given sound advice.

Actually, Id like to see the inverse of this work. Buy a RM rep and pull up in your 1992 Honda Civic and see how well that works out for you. Let me know if the OP would have a good chance of pulling it off as genuine. I think his question was answered fully.

Nothing like speaking from experience, i guess the strip club you dance in must have some truly elite clientele. And you must have some detective skills to be able to track down a car of every single Richard Mille owner you've seen. It makes me wonder if all you do there is just dancing.

Leave my panties and my 1992 Honda Civic alone, fact that someone you talk with may not be as successful as you should not be a reason to disrespect him...

Sorry, i forgot that this approach doesn't work too well with douchebags, respecting them and avoiding ad personam just makes them feel important and believe that the interlocutor fears them

You want to talk about my poverty and my 1992 Honda Civic then be my guest

Imgur: The magic of the Internet

The point is, pal, don't go breaking my balls about my lack of money because i sincerely believe i can buy you for my tax return and still have some leftover cash.

If you're ready to stop with the ad personam and dikk measuring festival and get back to the point then let me know. Then again, i'll probably hear that the link is not working, pic has been photoshopped, stolen from the internet, the money is counterfeit or the car is not mine. Been there done that, yawn.

LMAO. More of my concern is that you felt so emasculated that you had to go and take a picture like that. It was a general statement saying that someone driving a civic would not be able to pass off a RM rep as a gen. This should have been very simple to understand but your panties are so bunched up that its restricting blood flow to your head. Once again OP asked a question and I think he got a very simple and easy to understand answer from multiple posters. Nobody disrespected him or said anything condescending to him. If he told me he drove a Lamborghini I would have said that people would believe its a gen anyway. If he said he drove a 1992 Honda Civic, I would have told him that the best rep in the world would not make it believe. So now, reach that hand in your skirt and try to untie those panties and get some blood in that head. OPs post was answered perfectly
