    Default New 024C

    Hi All

Any opinions on the new 024 from XF?

PAM024 V2 XF 1:1 Best Edition Black Dial on Black Rubber Strap A7750 - InTimeWatch

Assuming this is a bit of prototype / early release Iím hoping bad cg lever and slightly dodgey engravings will be better on release..

Hoping it addresses some of the issues found with the V6F release from a few years ago...

    Thoughts?

    Cheers

It certainly does. Trying to resist pulling the trigger until I hear a few more views. Last release was disappointing because of he issue with the lugs - the rubber strap barely fitted due to their shortness!

What's slightly dodgy about the engravings? And the cg lever looks pretty good on this 2nd version.

Sorry - the engraving look good on the Intime site. I saw some pics over on RWI that a member had posted and they looked a little rough. I suspect that was a prototype / pre-release.
The cg level looks too small for the guard IMHO.

I apologize but you should've never ordered that watch. Did you see the enormous gap where the lever meets the housing? C'mon.

That's the dealer's pic, not the same as the QC pic virpag posted (BTW which were moved to the QC gallery).

Make sure you post the QC pics in the QC gallery, not here.

Looks like they’ve fixed the main issues with the V6.

Yes hopefully - Iíll do a compare once it has arrived.

One thing I might do is swap over the dials. The V6F only glows very faintly which would be correct for a Tritium watch from the best part of 20 years ago. From the pics it looks like this V2 glows quite a lot which isnít accurate... although I know some folks prefer this on their vintage builds as it makes the watch more useable/practical.

    Cheers!

    Default New 024C

    Hi

Received my V2 today. Some good and bad points (unfortunately).

Improvements IMHO over V1 (aka V6F/KW):
    1) Bezel profile is slightly improved - still probably a little too flat but more rounded on the edge.
    2) Lugs profile pretty much perfect so bit improvement.

    Not so good points!
    1) V2 case has the cut always between the lugs which is not accurate for a C series. The V1 case is therefore more accurate in this regard.
    2) Iím being fussy here but the font on the dial is very slightly thicker and less Gen like.
    3) Crystal is very nice but the AR is more blue than the V1 and definitely more so than my Gen 025D crystal (not stripper the case to see if this will fit yet but I doubt it will).

Pay attention to the crown guard lever when you get your QC pics. Make sure there are no visible gaps between the lever and the guard. Like the V1 the lever is a little Ďfloppyí which apparently the gens are as the rubber/plastic gasket that sits around the pin wears with use. This can be fixed with the glue gun mod easily enough. On my V2ís crown guard the lever is a fraction thinner (0.1mm) than the V1 so there is too much play for my liking. Not a big deal for me a as I can use my V1 but something I should of kept a closer eye on especially as this was glaringly obvious on InTimeís website pics.

All in all itís a nicely finished rep, just a shame they fixed one case issue (lugs) only to introduce another one (notch between the lugs). Such is life in the rep game I suppose.

    Some crap pics below...

    Cheers

    1) Bottom watch is V2

    2) Bottom watch is V2

    3) Watch at bottom of pic is V1. Slightly distorted pic so will take better close up later.

Some additional info I posted over on RWI..

Iím in the process of modding my 024 V2 using a combination of the parts from my V1 and improving the crown guard / lever and cannon pinion cap.

There were some questions around the AR on the V2 crystal being too blue. It definitely is more bluer than the V1 but I canít comment if this is more or less accurate. See the below... also included a better pic of the Gen 25D AR.

    V1

    V2:

Gen 25D (canít be used as 100% comparison for obvious reasons):

As expected the Gen crystal doesnít fit the V2 case either (correct diameter but just too thick).
Iím going with the V1 crystal for my build as the AR colour is less pronounced.

    Cheers

There has been 3 different shades of AR over the years with gen PAM 24's. Blue, purplish blue and a turqouise blue (and not necessarily in that order). There has never been one standard color of AR for gen Panerai.

Yes agreed. Itís not the colour that bothered me on the V2 itís the fact itís a little too blue and pronounced. The V1ís was more accurate from that perspective.
