    Default Crown guard reversible?

    Hello all,
I recently purchased a PAM 127 from a TD here on RG. The pictures appear to show the crown guard installed upside down on this watch. Can they be reversed easily? Thanks in advance for your help.

If you turn the CG upside down you will end up with the engravings on the backside. This looks like a cheap 127'ish rep, I'd leave it like that.

In this hobby you always get what you pay for. If you're buying for 200 something that's usually sold at 400 then this should raise a red flag and make you think.

That said yours is a perfectly fine watch, no one will notice its flaws. It's just a matter of knowing what you're buying.

Actually, it's mainly due to haste, a newbie mistake (the other extreme would be analysis paralysis, too much taking time to study down to the last microscopic detail; it's great for learning about reps but bad for making purchasing decisions). If you just focus on the important stuff like the appearance of the crystal dome and the dial which are the first things anyone would see, you'd notice that the watch you pictured is far from an accurate rep of the PAM127. The crown guard is also an important part, but if the main parts of the watch are inaccurate to begin with, anyone who would see the watch wouldn't even bother to look at the CG.

Thanks. Itís a bit of a learning curve. I should have checked the Fiddy against a gen first. I took it for granted that it would be a close match. Instead I have what appears to be a Frankenrep... the dial of a PAM127 and the rest is a PAM372. Live and learn.

Thank you, Mysterio. Haste WAS the culprit. I really, really wanted a Panerai rep and I jumped when I found this one.

Regarding the crystal dome and the dial: Itís apparent now that Iíve received the watch that the dome slopes in too much which is distorting the numbers on the dial. But when I hold it in a way where the numbers can be seen clearly, they appear to look pretty close to the gen.

I guess my question is, can I get an aftermarket dome that will fit and look better than what I have now? Is there something else on the face Iím missing?

Thanks in advance for any enlightenment you can share.

I had the same CG issue when I helped a friend with a pam127. Iíve been looking for another CG which faces downwards 🤣

It would depend entirely on the case used for that watch you purchased. It may or may not be gen spec, so even if you were to purchase an aftermarket WSO crystal (which costs around $125 I think), it may not fit the bezel. Either enjoy the watch as it is, learn from the experience and do the due diligence next time for your next rep, or sell the watch at a slight loss and get a proper PAM127 rep.
