Being Norwegian, learning some German is part of the eduction system. Cool guy, too bad he died tragically.

Never been called out because I owned a number of gens before I got into reps... So my friends, family and colleagues weren't suspicious. I don't wear stupid reps which don't align with my lifestyle and persona.

It's that old cliche... The biggest tell of a fake is the wearer. Don't try to be something you're not because you'll always get found out and look a fool.

It doesn't come up often. Mostly when people find out that I do watchmaking/strapmaking and want to show me their Pulsar or Armitron, or G-Shock with pride and watch my face for a reaction as if they handed me a Patek. It's hard to feign appreciation, or explain i'm not into watches that have batteries. No I don't want to change the batteries for a shoebox full of your dusty, deady, sh!tty quartz watches. No I cannot source a replacement crystal for your $15 walmart watch, rather, I just don't want to. What would embarrass me would be having to wear one of those super huge no name quartz half Breitling half Hublot looking watches with that sh!tty clasp. You know the clasp I'm talking about, it's the same one that's on 99% of watches people think are awesome but aren't. I despise that clasp almost as much as being asked to resize the bracelet attached to it.. The one thats full of that dead skin meat dust build up.

Don't stare directly at it. Avert your eyes!

Hmm.. Unless someone intends to blame me because of wearing a rep watch, it is hard to say the embarrassment.

I drop all bracelets in an ultrasonic bath before I touch them just because of the nasty walking dead skin meat problem.

how about a new question, how would you feel standing next to someone who was wearing the genuine article of your rep watch on your wrist and that person decides to talk about the watch?

Never. Reps serve a real and genuine purpose. Great for bad weather days, and that quick run back and forth to the grocery store, etc. What I am seeking now is a good mod. I would like to send in a rep Seamaster and a Gen Hamilton in to have AR coated Sapphire crystals fitted.

I'd be terribly embarrassed, for the gen owner. I would probably know more about the rep than he ever would about his gen.

Ask prof, he might be able to help you with that AR job.

I've never been called out though I hardly flash mine around. I will tell close friends that my small collection are reps but don't tell wider acquaintances as reactions can be mixed. I think it all comes down to the watch being believable and with how I dress and the reps that I own (with the exception of my nautilus but nobody except a WIS knows what that it). I've definitely had people at university recognise my sub and some have even commented on it but though rare I have seen plenty of luxury watches at my university, some which I assume are rep and others which I'm certain would be gen.

As for how I would feel wearing a rep of the gen the guy next to me was wearing it would entirely depend on the situation, if it was a good mate I'd have a laugh and see for myself how close the 16610 is but for my lower quality reps I would probably just move the conversation on if it surfaced.

I have never been called out. A few years ago I wearing my franken PAM 87 when my friend who has an extensive gen collection of watches commented we were wearing the same PAM 087. My first reaction was he would call me out. He asked me if I could take off my PAM 87 and take a closer look as he was intrigued by the patina on my gen dial markers as his gen PAM 87 patina was not as nice as mine. The discussion than turned to my Wotancraft ammo strap which he liked compared to his gen rubber strap. I spend the next 10 minutes talking to him about PAM after market strap makers like Ted Su, Wothancraft, Kevin Addeos, Simona, and Pitor and pointed him in direction of Panerist. Every time I see him we talk about PAM straps and I make sure I wear a gen PAM or rolex or highly modded rep.
"Aiyah Panerai, buay beh liao eh lah."

PM me if you want to sell your Kevin, Ted Su, Wotancraft, Piotr or Simona Straps.

Strap size is 24 mm and or 26 mm and at least 80mm by 140mm or larger.

only when an hour marker falls off or the strap fails. (yes I know that gens do this too but it seems more indicative of a rep)

I think I would tell them it's a Rep at work even if it's a Gen, I don't want my co-workers to have an idea on how much I make.. Office Politics and all.

Sorta like asking women in the office if their breasts or lips or nose are gen or enhanced by plastic surgery.

Didn’t think that people who “work at high end multi line ADs” got paid that much money. Lol. I’m in the wrong line of work Have you ever felt embarrassed about wearing a replica

Think they also get pretty good discounts though. Don’t know for sure, anyone got an answer?
