Default Guide to Buying your First Big Bang! Part II (Limited Editions)*RepGeek Award Winning Thread*

There are regular Big Bangs, and then there are the beautiful limited editions so hard to replicate sometimes it makes me cry, but then again, we are in this hobby to experiment with everything, so again I leave that to your personal preference, however, I must do a write up regarding those limited editions, so you would know about the flaws of each.

    1. If I have to start somewhere, I would have to start with the TIUGA, or more formally known as the Yacht Club of Monaco, people think this is an accurate watch and it is, of the previous version of course, the New 2007 version has nor will be repped, since it has a tungsten case, and that would be hard, and I don't think gray PVD will dol the trick, the old version was limited to 250 pcs, and the new 2007 (tungsten case) was limited to 500 pcs, so the reason most people buy this watch is because of the fact that it has a closed caseback, which is a really good option, if you do not want to deal with all the isssues you would deal with any other big bang, so pics compare as follows, just a DW thing (boldness, as big bangs have a sunken datewheel as well, since the gen is 7750, not 7753 as many think)

    Gen

    The Rep

    The New Gen (2007, sweet)

    And the Case Back

    Gen

Rep (not good quality pic, but in real life, the engraving is spot on!

    2. The Aryton Senna

Beautiful watch, beautiful caseback and very spot on printing of the logo, however, the model we see, can never be seen at an AD, that means if I or any other HBB owner see it on your wrist, we know it is a Rep, as this model was only made once, that is right, only one piece made, dont know how the rep factories managed to rep this one, maybe trial an error, but the aryton senna you can buy has the logo on the 6 o clock marker, not at 9, allow me to demonstrate

Gen (the 500 pieces one, not the 1 pc)

Rep with the caseback (like I said, spot on)

    3. The All black (one of the most sought after big bangs)

Limited Edition of only 250 pcs, said to be one of Jean Claude Biver's Watches (CEO of Hublot BTW)

Very spot on, in fact, the best one out there, just one minor flaw that no one will be able to detect unless they pay really close attention to you, the Date Wheel, should be dark gray surrounding the numbers, not black, other than that, and the regular flaws (rotor bearing micro regulator etc) I consider this to be the best one out the box

    Gen

Rep (bad pick, but seen this one in the flesh, and let me tell you, almost flawless)

Another rep pic of it in the flesh

And COMPARE IT TO THE GEN

    Added this on 10/02/2009

A new Factory and becoming very popular because of the lower price tag and full ceramic All Black is popping out, from hont or Tony, I have to mention the flaws of this one, since IMO, it looks very bad.

The all black is one of the most beautiful pieces out there in its GEN form, these reps from the V2 maker never come close, the flaws of the All Black V1 and the all Black V2:

    V2:
    - Dial
    Wrong Texture
    Shiny Subdials (very, very incorrect)
    Bad Datewheel
    - Case
Incorrect Crown (the H sticks out too much in rubber, look here to see what I mean https://www.repgeek.com/hublot/79775-hbb-black-ceramic-finally-received.html)
    - Movement
Incorrect (on most of the dealers) stamped Movement and blue screws.

    V1:
    - Dial
Correct Matte Finish, no shiny subdials, but some are shiny markers, some are flat, ask first (they should be flat)
Incorrect DW (this hasn't been corrected yet, but better looking than the previous version)
    - Case
    No flaws on the case
    - Movement
    The obvious flaws

So in reality, the V1 is better looking by a mile! and much more correct, you don't want to pay that big price tag of 700, then don't get the full ceramic, get the PVD case, it still looks way better than the V2!

Some pictures so you can see what I mean

    GEN:

    V2 Rep:

    V1 Rep (ultimate)

    4. The luna Rossa

Hard to get this one even Gen, but the fact that the best factory doesn't produce this one anymore, neither does Hublot, which is why the gens are going up in value too. You guessed it, it is Prada the designer inspired Hublot. different strap like the one the Senna should have but with the prada logo, very different as the subdials and logo are palced different than other Hublot's, very unique in dial design, and a good deal too, here is a comparison

    Gen

    Rep

I have to note, that the strap I have seen repped, cant see if it has the Prada logo on it though, but the texture is there, if anyone finds it, let me know to modify this post

    5. The Spanish and Mexican Federations Limited Editions

These are probably, the most inaccurate versions of this watch, only done by the 2nd or 3rd factory, they kind of suck really, and they could be a great one too. Missing Flags on the sides, the mexican federation has yellow markers instead of green, and they do not have black pushers and crown, they are silver, however, who is going to know right? Besides member Faparisi modified the spanish federation to have it look more gen like.

    6. The Tempus is an all black with a Rose Gold number 2 on the dial, so really the same watch.

    7. The Capuccinos are really nice, have to add, that really the CF dial on brown looks deeper than the black one, dont know why, maybe the proccess, and have to say, try to stay away from the CF dials, they are not built the same way as the gens, and Rofl once stated the number of boxes don't line up the same, and they don't have the same shine, but other than that I hope it helps,

There are many more limited and not so limited editions I have to cover, but these are the most talked about and hope it helps on making your decision, any input is appreciated, thanks!

    Awsome, just awsome.

Thinking of getting me an all black. but wonder if the side of the bezel should be flat (policed) or textured ??

HBB all black is my dream watch, once I have that one no other watch would be needed..

I believe the All Black has SS screws in the bezel. Or at least mine does, they add a nice touch of contrast to watch

This is a great post Kim, thanks.

I don't think it is a good idea to swim with any rep, however some have reported no problems, it just seems to be an unneccasary risk to me.

I don't know about you Meyer but I wouldn't expose my watches to water unless it's absolutely unavoidable. Especially an Hublot

Sure, you can trust the dealers saying they are waterproof or whatever but you can never really be sure, can you?

    Cheers,
    Jure
