Thumbs up Buyers Guide to the King Power All Black*RepGeek Award Winning Thread*

The King Power 48mm All Black

I've learned a lot about these watches in the process of buying one, mostly from various forum posts, so thought I'd summarize what I've learned for others seeking this highly desirable, manly watch.

For reference, some few photos of the best version - the genuine! Unfortunately it will set you back the better part of $20k. Note the very fine concentric ring dial detail i.e. guilloche. Also note the design of the rotor, which is different than the Hublot Big Bang. And it is engraved "KING POWER" too.

Now on to something a little more accessible, the replicas Be aware that there is a common flaw on all these reps, inevitable because the genuine has a foundroyante complication - goofy in my opinion - on the 9:00 subdial and also features a split-second chronograph i.e. rattrapante. As usual with the 7750, the 9:00 subdial has seconds and the [single] large second hand is the chronograph. So if you can live with this, and want a huge, stealth black watch with double AR sapphire crystal, read on!

    #1. Ceramic version, mid-$400 range

A7750 high beat (28,800bph) movement without regulator, blue screws
    Ceramic case and ceramic bezel
Incorrect rotor design, recycled from the Hublot Big Bang
Incorrect "HUBLOT GENEVE" rotor engraving on early versions, later updated to correct "KING POWER"
Dial with absent concentric ring detail/guilloche
Correct case back engravings, but with added numbers
No longer being produced, no availablity from dealers! Beware, most dealers (including Angus, Andrew, Joshua, Lay, King, Mary Tony, Marvin) still have this version listed on their sites for purchase. If you contact them, they will tell you it is no longer available. If you order it anyway, you may get lucky and receive an email saying it is out of stock and get a refund; or alternatively you may be less lucky and receive an inferior, cheaper version in the mail with no explanation.

Note incorrect rotor design and engraving

Newer version, rotor design still incorrect but with proper engraving

    Chrono pushers and crown

#2. PVD steel "Lite" version, mid-$300 range

A7750 low beat (21,600bph) movement with regulator, blue screws
    PVD steel case and bezel
Incorrect rotor design, recycled from Hublot Big Bang
    Incorrect "HUBLOT GENEVE" engraving
Dial with concentric ring detail/guilloche like the gen, but too coarse
Incorrect case back screw hole positions, engravings therefore out of place, KING & POWER & numbers added to engravings, GENEVE missing
Most dealers sell this version (Angus, Andrew, Joshua, Lay, King, Hont, Tony, Watcheden).

Dial of the "Lite" version - note concentric ring detail. If you see this, you are looking at the "Lite" version! The others don't have it.

Movement and case back of the "Lite" version - note incorrect rotor style and engraving. Movement with regulator and blue screws. Note screw positions for the case back, they are incorrect which shifts the engravings from their proper locations.

    Another photo...

    And yet another...

And if the rep world isn't confusing enough, several dealers (including Joshua, Andrew, Tony, Hont) have this exact same photo which means they didn't take it, rather it was given to them by the factory. Note different (i.e. correct) screw hole positions, but the screws themselves are wrong. Movement has regulator but silver rather than blue screws. I am almost certain this watch is not even a King Power at all, but rather a Big Bang. It pays to be observant! Kudos to Angus/PureTime, Lay, and WatchEden for taking their own photos.

#3. PVD steel & ceramic "Hybrid" version, mid-$300 range

A7750 low beat (21,600bph) movement with regulator, steel screws
PVD steel case & ceramic bezel
    Correct rotor and engraving. Finally!
    Absent concentric ring dial detail/guilloche
Correct case back screw hole position, same engravings as "Lite" version but now properly oriented
Only a few dealers sell this version - Timeshops.net, Jimmy (watchcollectorhk on Youtube), and maybe Watcheden*

Lastly the Youtube video. Watch it in full 720p glory. The video is rather old and my understanding is that the rotor has been updated since it was made.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8PdVxjsHVY

In summary, there are three versions of this watch but only two are currently available. Most dealers still list the unavailable ceramic version in the $400-500 range, don't order it unless you want to be disappointed. In the $300-400 range, the dealers sell either the "Lite" or "Hybrid" version, none to my knowledge carry them both except for possibly Watcheden.

The "Lite" is carried by most dealers. It has the PVD steel case and bezel, incorrect rotor, incorrect rotor engraving, incorrect case back screw hole positions, and low beat movement with regulator and blue screws. Lots of flaws, but on the upside it does have the concentric ring dial guilloche, unfortunately it is too coarse making it much more obvious than the gen. Perhaps this is why the other versions just omit it altogether, although being a fun of busy and detailed dials, I like it.

The "Hybrid" version has the benefit of the ceramic bezel and correct rotor, correct case back screw positions, and movement with silver screws. Only a few dealers carry it:

    http://www.timeshops.net/product.php?id_product=5631

    jimka.eshop@gmail.com

    * Note: Watcheden has both the "Lite" and "Hybrid" models on their site, for $398 and $415, respectively. They are the only dealer that has both of them, so pay attention if ordering from them. I did notice the "Hybrid" does not show up in a search, only the "Lite" version, so perhaps they now only carry the "Lite". Timeshops.net is cheaper anyway. I have ordered the "Hybrid" version from Timeshops and have requested QC photos to make sure I am indeed getting this version - I'll post a follow-up with the photos when they are received, which should be any day.

    Watcheden links:

    "Lite": http://www.watcheden.biz/hublot-big-...84766-p-1.html

    "Hybrid": http://www.watcheden.biz/hublot-big-...41122-p-1.html *

I hope somebody finds this helpful in sorting out some of the confusion.

Very good thread and clarifying information. Thank you for taking the time to put all this information together.

I noticed that both the lite and hybrid versions have incorrect text on the ceramic back plate. The first reads Platinum 950, the hybrid reads King Power.

But tell us ekovalsky, would you be happy with the ceramic version even though its dial is wrong (no concentric circles)?

Good observation. I hadn't noticed that.

Haha no teasing me unless you're ready to sell yours!

Great summary, however, I believe the high-end version does have the concentric ring detail on the dial, it is just hard to see in photographs. I have the high-end ceramic version and will try to post some macro shots of the dial to verify.

Another thing I noticed, the markings on the rehaut of the ceramic version are engraved, where they are only painted on the other versions.

Which dealer you got it from? Does it have the correct rotor design and engraving? Also does it really have the concentric circles lines? Thanks.

    Nice review...
@Zenos: using the search function where you will find tons of pics, reviews, and threads to really really help you...

It will NEVER be close to the gen especially since you cannot replicated the Foudroyante movement this high beat version simply has a smooth running seconds like the regular HBB

Here is a dial macro of the ceramic version where you can see the concentric rings. They are much finer than the ones on the 'lite' version dial.

1234, thanks for posting those photos. I didn't expound on it in the OP, but there are two different ceramic case versions of this watch (both of which are discontinued).

Watch in your photos, I believe, is from the the V4/5 factory with rather poorly beveled hour markers (reminds me of the Ice Bang Evo), the light printing on the dial and subdials, and the light hands and hour markers.

The V2 has darker hour markers and dial/subdial printing, and very sharply beveled hour markers.

Both have the incorrect rotor design, regardless of whether engraved "HUBLOT GENEVE" or "KING POWER".

I've been wearing my KP for the last three days, and I noticed it has the concentric rings on the dial, even though my watch is the full ceramic version. Then I remembered this thread and thought I should add a line on that matter, but now I see you guys had already noticed it before. And, to my surprise, there are two versions of the full ceramic!! Mine is the poorly bevelled version, with white lettering on the dial - which I prefer, by the way, because then I can read time pretty much whenever I wish to!!

I thought I didn't care about the concentric rings on the dial, but now that I noticed they are there, I AM HAPPY!!

    Thanks.

I guess the point is that Hubolt make amazing watches that are really, really hard to copy. So big it up to them I guess.

Im a Fiddy guy, but I will admit that these are really growing on me.
