Default Review of JF A23J Daytona 2016 Baselworld 116509 Blue Dial

This is my review of the JF factory A23J replica of the blue dial Rolex Daytona 116509. This is not a review of how close to gen this is but just a review of how beautiful and awesome this watch is on its own. The gen of this is solid 18k white gold and >$20k so there’s no point buying this rep in an effort to pass it off as gen. Enjoy it for what it is and wear in good health.

I bought this via m2m and I know it had at least 2 owners before me. The owner before me got a BP bracelet for it but included the original JF bracelet, and another JF bracelet, in the sale. I don’t know which is which but I put the one with the best clasp and best SEL on.

I know this isn’t the real “ice blue” dial platona but since it’s winter in the True North, the pics are an ice blue theme!

    The Dial
Stunning! The sunburst blue is gorgeous. I’m a lover of dials that catch light and vary in different lighting conditions. This one doesn’t that in every way. The printing is good and hour markers are applied well. The hands and dials, because they have polished parts, also catch light in a very beautiful way. One of my favourite “views” of this watch is in low light when the dial fades to black and the hands and hour markers catch light…stunning! The lume is okay. It lasts all night but it is no torch.

    The Case

I wish this were a mm or two bigger just to show off this beautiful dial more but it is what it is. I purposely wanted the A23j version in order to maintain the thin profile of the gen. It is very nice and sits nicely on my skinny, flat wrist. The case is solid and the polished bezel reflects beautifully. The printing on the bezel is good. The crown guards are clean. Overall I’m impressed with the machining.

    The Bracelet

Two of the bracelets, which I think are JF bracelets, were not great. The SEL was terrible and clasps poor. This third bracelet, which I think is a BP bracelet, has very nice SEL. I also like how the clasp on the BP bracelet has micro adjustments. The other two clasps did not have that.

    The Movement
It’s chrono is faux! Since this is the A23J, and not 7750, the chrono doesn’t work. I don’t care as I would never use it anyway. The second hand sweeps at the 6 o’clock dial. The chrono dials are nice and well finished and the polished chrono hands also catch lightß. The movement is noisy and winding is grindy. Accuracy is pretty good at +3 s/day. Overall it is fine because this piece’s strong part is it’s visual appearance.

    Overall

This is only the second rep I’ve owned. The first was a Noob crPO that I just couldn’t fall in love with since it was dull to me. I flipped it after a couple of weeks and got this. This is right up my alley in terms of complementing the rest of my collection while also being gorgeous on it’s own. I bought some 10 Invicta Daytona homages before this and ended up returning all because they were ugly. This watch is simply gorgeous and I prefer the blue dial to any other Daytona. Sure it’s nearly impossible to pass off an 18k white gold gen but once you can get over that, you can enjoy this watch to it’s fullest!

Heres what i did with mine. If your looking to reallt "pull off" this 20k piece, getting the solid white gold bracelet out of the equation helps!
Also the special endlinks eliminate the sel issue although yoyr sel looks very good. if the edges were sharp and not rounded it would look perfect.. Thw only other big issue on these watches is the rehult depth but thats kind of unfixable because if you manage to shave it, now the engravings are way off center, lol! But in the end this is by far the best choice under 4k Phong build. So we wear out tonas and we love em

i love the blue dual, wow!
