Default Swapping the dial on a gen Tag Heuer Monaco

    Hi guys,
Right, so I have a gen CAW2110 with black dial which I bought used some time ago for a cheap price...

I'm very tempted to obtain a gen dial and hand set for the Steve Mcqueen version CAW2111 to swap....

Although this is primarily for my own satisfaction and use, Will this dial change negatively affect the value of it?
The watch has no papers, the caseback is identical except for the CAW number laser etched.

I'd compare it to a car that had a colour change. If done well, and for no other reason than cosmetic, I wouldn't have a problem with it?

I think it would depend entirely on the buyer.

Some guys are all about original but others will gladly mix and match to get the watch they desire.

I've seen it done with Omega Panda Speedies and they still get great re-sale prices.

I think as long as you do a decent swap with no damage and keep the original dial then there shouldn't be a problem.

    Thanks for your comments.
I agree with what you said, there would definitely be two trains of thought when it comes to who's buying.
Those who see a bargain for a "Steve Mcqueen" calibre 12
    And
Those who are all about originality. Let's be honest, it's not a vintage Autavia...

I also believe that a dealer probably wouldn't touch it.

If it was a question of servicing (and the case number referencing a black dial) , there's plenty of cheaper non LVMH watchsmiths out there. So that shouldn't be an issue.

I would like to think that if it came to selling up, it would be beneficial to have had it already serviced as a back up to prove all is well
