Default How long have your replicas lasted you before deciding to pack up

How long has your rep/reps lasted you before they have decided to pack up?.
I had my first rep just over 4 years ago and still working just perfectly had no problems with it.
    Kind regards

Some since I started in 2014. Most movements can be repaired or replaced with a better movement

15 years ago I got my very first Rep. It's an Omega DeVille with an ETA movement. Runs perfectly today, too.

Main problems are the replacement parts. They could last forever but when the factories stop producing them and we lack a screw a crown or any small part ... sucks

I’ve been here since 2007 and have a number of reps that I’ve had a very long time. I also have a gen Rolex sub that has been back and forth to the Dallas Rolex service center at least every 5 years to the tune of $500 each time. On the other hand I have various reps that I’ve had the whole time that are still running well with out any service. I had a few act up but I live close to SpeedyG and he did a great job keeping the few with problems running. Unfortunately, he no longer works on reps. Not sure where I’ll go now when problems arise.

You have hit on a good point there. We are lucky to have some good watchsmiths that will still service/repair reps, but if more of them find they are unable to do so, we will lose a very valuable resource. More may come on line as some drop out, but it will be a sad day when we can't get our reps fixed. It will be this more than anything else that will impact our hobby in the long term. You only have to look at the throughput of Micky (SSTEEL) to realise that.

I do have to send in my BCE in for service. It no longer keeps time correctly but I think it is about 9 years old.

It’s hit or miss. I’ve had some arrive DOA and I have one that is 25+ years and running. They have definitely improved in qualitt, and I no longer pray to the rep gods that my watch will not arrive already broken.

Undecorated ETA-based clones seldom give problems and if they do they are easily replaceable. Same goes for the simple 2813´s. Overall they perform well. Not quitting anytime soon and everything bought since 2013 is up and running, two A7750´s and two GMT´s included. Some simple/basic fixes here and there were needed but doable, even for the layman, with the help of tutorials, forum support and Youtube.

Probably 50 watches over the course of the last 5 years and I've had an issue at some point or another with all of them bar the hand wind pams with 6497's.

I learned pretty quickly the best thing is to get specialist movements like the 3135 clones or 7753 serviced and the easy swap movements like eta's and 7750's swapped for swiss. Even the miyota's I've had have arrived in varying conditions, over oiled or bone dry.

With a service most Asian movements should give you a good few years, you may get lucky and be ok out of the box. I had a cheap aliexpress 21j watch that lasted for years and kept better time than my gen omega so it really is pot luck.

Ditto what everyone has said. I still have the first two rolex Datejust reps got and my first Pam. Those are all about 13-14 years old. No issues. Across many dozens of reps over teh years I've had a few develop issues, but surprisingly few considering they are mechanical. And ive never been one to pro-actively service anything. In general these reps we buy from TDs are very solid product.

Agree with other posters that the biggest issue isnt the mechanics of the watch but rather things like losing a screw or a Pam crown guard and not being able to find a replacement part.

There are a few, but many will not touch them for various reasons. I tried someone locally myself and he just smiled and shook his head.

First rep was a BLNR, which i picked up in late 2013. It was a lower end modell with a dg movement. Surprinsingly it is still running strong with +8 seconds a day, which is kind of uncommon. Serviced twice in the last years. In the end, the two services were more exspensive than the watch itself. But, as always: no regr“e“ts

I still have the first Tag Link rep I bought. Horrible by today’s standards, still runs perfectly after 23 (!!!) years.

My first one i bought was directly from dhgate, lasted for 14 years, then the gear broke in the stem, so it still runs but have to shake it to get it wound up.
