Below a pic of the lume. Indexes are blue and the color of the pearl on the bezel is green. Overall, the lume is correct, no more. Let's say "standard".

Below a pic taken a few minutes ago with the BB camera (10 seconds under a standard light). The lume is by far better in reality... Hope it helps ;-)

I thought I’ll put down some quality check of my new catch.

Quick overall feel – This is a good rep that I will wear with confidence and pride, but I don’t think it will be one of the greats.

Keeping in mind I’ve tried on the gen roughly only once in AD very recently, seen in multiple pictures, but for a 10+K watch plus the brand that comes with it we can all expect to be excellent in all of its offering. Hence, I will try to keep the critiquing focused on my personal impressions and comparison which my experience. I will definitely go try on the gen again for second opinion now that I’ve got this.

The Case – nicely machined. The case back is a little weak in the engraving but you never see it anyway. Looks pretty accurate in my eyes, so no complains.

The Dial – the finish on the dial is amazing. Perfect, other than the round number issue many have raised, which by the way I didn’t even notice when holding the watch in my hand – only noticed again after comparing with gen pics. The lume applied and prints are very sharp and have an over all top quality feel, that you would expect from a high end watch.

The Hands – the lume on the hands seem to lack the same amount of quality as the dial, and this is a point raised already also, I will confirm this. The color is the tinniest shade off white compared to the dial and creates a fussy impression. Now this is not something you see easily, so lets be honest most of us will not care or even notice, but for the picky and for those who enjoy, notice and celebrate for perfection (but can’t afford) will notice this. This will be an easy fix for the lume modders.

The Bezel – This is a little bit of a let down for me. I’m not a fan of Rollies and the rep Rollie bezel look and feel absolute kills this. The engraving on the bezel feels shallow. The pearl lume looks a bit wonky which I can see across the board so this is an obvious fail. The bezel edge is a touch sharp from what I remembered. The bezel feels like it turns too easily. The feel of the snap is pretty good, but there is a tiny bit of play after snapped in. As said, against look and feel of the 120 click Rolex reps, this is fundamentally lacking quality.
The crown – look pretty good, with a solid click. Not sure personally how it works, is it ment to lock in when I turn it, cause I can pull out the crown if its red or white arrows. The twisting part is a bit tough, but else it feels quality. I never tried adjusting time on the gen so I can’t really comment, but I would think the gen would feel a LOT smoother. It’s a very average for me.

The Bracelet – The bracelet is overall a new thing for me. But I have tried on gen and rep Omega and Rolex and I can say even though this is comfortable and adjustment is pure pleasure which feels gen like, I don’t think it feels solid like Rolex bracelet. But overall, I’m impressed by the quality and looks very gen like. Sorry bracelet fans, I still think this looks plastic – like a girly plastic watch. I will be using leather again or maybe a mesh if I can find one. The factory did a great job here.

The Clasp - feels cheap, like majority of rep clasps. It looks good though! Unfortunately my one pops out easy also. The trick is to snap it in sharp – press hard even though you already hear the click – press on all four lock point. After that it locks down.

Alright I realise I’ve been harsh on the rep, and really shouldn’t be comparing this more complicated (details not movement) rep with some of the easier to rep Pams. But overall this does not stand up to the gen, and to be honest for the amount we pay for this approx. $500, it does not stand up to the Seiko’s at the same price range. Loosing largely to the clasp and the bezel. But Hey! We don’t want a Seiko, we want a JLC and the pleasure of having it on the wrist way over power the small failures. The bigger picture looks fantastic. Afterall, how many times am I going to look at the case back after the initial look, and how many times am I going to use the bezel for secure my time when diving?

For fellas out there with a smaller wrist. This thing fits so perfectly. It will fit even better on a croc strap.

What type of tools are you using to remove your links? I have a Watch Bitz kit that does nothing here, and I bought some Canadian Tire precision screwdrivers that even the smallest one won't fit at 1.4mm wide - kind of frustrating!

Thanks for the extensive review, Kutio. I was intrigued by this diver and wanted to know more about the quality of this rep. Your post helped me a lot and don't think I am going to get one (sorry Angus.) I find it very expensive for what it is, really. Thanks again.

It is an expensive one. And similar to all the reps in the same range, you need to love it to get it.
We are all getting very spoit by the quality of reps these days, but at the same time, we are paying more so we demand both the look and "FEEL" to be right. I complain now when I feel a bit of wiggle, but compared to 5 years ago when the wiggle comes with every watch and we complain about the hand is a total wrong shape - this is still a great achievement. And certainly as promised if the factory fix up the dial numbers then visually this rep is not far from unrecognisatioble to gen on the wrist.

Got my NSD yesterday. This is an amazing piece with amazing detail. You know how almost every rep you get has (at least) that one little annoying flaw or issue that always nags at you? This watch has none of that. The worst part is the pearl, but due to the white being surrounded by silver, it's not noticeable except under extremely close scrutiny. No big deal from even a foot away under normal lighting. The dial lume is great and lasts a long time, which isn't too common in reps with factory lume.

I know I'm really late on this but just thought I'd give my opinion anyway for anyone thinking of picking one of these up...

I'm REALLY picky when it comes to watches, the tiniest fault or defect bugs me for weeks. There's none of that with this watch.
It's what I'd call a very 'clean' rep. Even in direct sunlight there are no nasty surprises, the dial is perfectly printed and all the materials are bright and sharply finished.

No 'dirty' looking crystal or lack of sharpness to the bezel cuts (my main complaint with my Noob DSSD). The clasp is probably as good as any watch i've worn, gens included. The engraving is really sharp, just great.

Definitely the best rep I've come across so far by a mile.

    Default JLC NSD first impressions?

Got mine the other day and think this is a $300 watch. The ar seems missing, the crown 'lock' does nothing, the Lyme is great but the watch just feels like $300. The bracelet is a big cause, and the fact the crown digs into me more than a fiddy.

I got it to see what all the buzz was about. I wore it for a couple hours and realized I already own this, in 46mm and its called a super ocean heritage. Except the heritage is gen and had presence. This appears to have the presence of a new timex piece. Maybe on canvas it'd b better. Not knocking the builder, I'm knocking the gen. I could wear this every day and I expect 1 person to ever say its nice. It just feels basic. But thankfully the clasp is saving it for me, I love the adjustability, though my breitling OR clasp kills this.

Nice watch. Going to make a statement? Na. Worth $400 as a rep? Almost.. Worth $10 ish as a gen gtfo! Granted a lot of manual Pam's are the same way.

This is a great rep, no doubt but the bracelet has been a big let down for me. Check the photo of the split I've got in mine. image.jpg

Hmmmm I was very keen but this JLC diver seems to be getting a lot of mixed reviews...

That alone doesn't justify it's price of $500+ unless you a JLC fan

This watch doesn't have the bling of an AP but it's a well crafted solid watch.
