Default Rep rubber straps any good?

Does anyone know how accurate rep rubber straps are, like this one:
    http://www.yourtrustytime.com/index....oducts_id=3770

I know rep leather & croc straps are bad news, and scream replica, but haven't seen much on the rubber ones.
Anyone compared one to a gen?

I don't particularly want a rubber one, but I've had issues finding the right head, and when I finally found one, it's on one of these straps. Will definitely get a good croc when I can, but just want to know if the rubber is any good in the meantime.

Rep rubber strraps are great!! So much so that I would recommend a rep over spending the extra $ for a gen. I've had gen and rep and would not be able to tell the difference.

if there's one thing i have more of than actual watches, its gotta be straps
if you want to be comfortable, pick rep leather over rep rubber

its only a matter of time before the leather will crap out, that's why you order a decent leather strap from Panatime or Waccex, swap the buckle and live happily ever after

the rubber will never be as good as the real thing, period !
so many watches, so little time ... even less money !

Going to wait 'till the watch arrives, then order a decent leather strap and swap the buckle out; and keep watching the board for a member selling a black gator, maybe on a deployment...
then I'll be set for a little while...
but this hobby is starting to take hold—already been eyeing an IWC Pilot Chrono.

i have the same strap pictured above on my skyland. I think it's uncomfortable and i have put the watch on a zulu. it's black and I was sold it as having a gen buckle. I'd let it go for the £30 I paid for it.

Imho the rep rubbers are a crap shoot.

I've had one arrive on a 21j SOSF that was pretty poor and then I had a very good one that arrived with a Swiss Seawolf. I've been through a few of them over the years and I think there are varying degrees of quality with them, which may or may not be directly associated to the cost of the rep that they are originally purchased with.

The gen ones however are brilliant imho.

A bit off the topic of rubber straps, but after chronoluvv recommended waccex, I was browsing their site and found this carbon fiber strap... looks like it could be pretty sharp:

The price difference between the rep rubber and the gen rubber is not that much -- $50 at most and there really is nothing like the gen. If you buy one, you'll never go back to rep...

I say the rep strap sucks big ones. I had a gen strap laying aroung its about 5 times stiffer and makes a difference on the wrist. However!!! my gen strap is an older model which was stiffer then the new straps right before they discontinued them. Id say the strap I bought was from 2007 for my SA its a 24mm and had the pointy end tail. i bought a AS 22mm with the stubbed end and it was almost rep quality to me.

The gen ones soften up, the rep ones don't - or if they're low enders they just crack. But, if you can pick up a rep one for $20-25 in the parts section they're usable and do the job. Not sure I'd buy a rep one new for $65 though.

Below is a trick for softening rubber straps. I take no responsibility for the strap exploding, breaking, the missus moaning at you for using the best china or for you getting burnt.

Try putting them in a cup of boiling water, curved around the inside of the cup as if it was on the wrist. Don't touch the buckle - IT WILL BE HOT.

I haven't had my rep pro diver that long to see it crack at all. I have only worn it on my gen seawolf a couple times. I find there is no problems with the quality. Just my opinion!

Korks, it may just be the older rep ones as none of mine have cracked but it used to come up now and then. The rep ones do the job but $65 is a bit much imho when the gens aren't that much more, but are better.

Lately I've been sacrificing... everything in the name of comfort. A really lightweight watch is a big selling point to me.

Second to that has to be a rubber strap. The only watch I own on rubber is a HBB which isn't that comfortable but wowwwww I wore a Breitling on rubber(not sure which one) and holy crap that was the most comfortable stap I've ever worn.

if your looking for a soft strap then the rep is the way to go. the gen is stiffer and I prefer it like that especially on the heavy SAs with a stiffer strap it prevents it from sagging on the wrist and my gen strap is now 5 yrs old as stiff as the first day i bought it. the rep felt awkward when i compared to the gen but if you didnt have the gen strap first i guess you wouldnt know the diff.

Y'know I have a $20 no-name generic rubber strap that wears better than the $60 rep junk. Goes to show how terribly the manufacturers have replicated the real thing

I have yet to feel one, but I'm ordering a couple. One for my rep SOSF, and one for a legit Chrono Avenger M1.

$200+ for a gen is silly. But they do feel like no other band I've had. When my gen goes, however, I'd like to have a backup for less than the cost of a new rep watch...

Or maybe I'll just order one for my SOSF.

I tried the new 24mm with the deployment buckle... AD price was USD$500 .. way too expensive.... 200 with deployment would be acceptable....

the strap which came with the code yellow I thought it was pretty good quality/feel... the one on the blacksteel (OR).. felt like crap... the blackstee now has a carbon fibre K-strap ..

but I'm looking for a closed rubber 24/22 for the SA which I'm getting.... wait and see how the rep feels before I look into an alternative... $100 just for the rubber... is much better than $500 ...

any recommendations of a cheaper gen deployment buckle & rubber??
